“I’m Steph, and I create sterling silver & gemstone jewelry for my business, One 80 Reasons. Along the way, I got bored and also started carving linoleum blocks and rubber stamps, and started my second business, Prints Charming. I’m a queer woman, I’ve got a ton of cats, and I like playing in my gardens. Starting this studio community with my good friend Cara feels like a dream come true.”
Cara Romano works in a variety of media, including watercolor, ink, collage, oil painting, printmaking, and jewelry making. After growing up in Oberlin, Ohio, Cara went on to study at The University of Chicago. In 2007 she received her MFA in Sculpture and Expanded Practice and her MA in Art History from Ohio University. Although she works in many styles, she is best known for her abstract paintings that incorporate a time-based process of drawing and painting directly from sunlight and the shadow patterns it casts. She views her art as a spiritual investigation, a cosmic quest, but the destination is very much in the moment – whenever the sunlight appears and inspires her. Cara is also a resident artist at Negative Space Gallery, next door to Chrysalis.
Noor Al Rassam is a self taught graphic novelist and illustrator from Solon, OH. She worked alongside art activist and painter, Nayana LaFond, for the Missing and Murdered Indigenous People Project as an assistant. Noor’s main focus is her Middle Eastern dystopian/dark fantasy graphic novel and webtoon, Moonflower. On her free time, she likes playing video games, reading manga/watching anime, grabbing coffee, and spending time with her cat.
“Hi! I’m Sarah and I’m an acrylic painter! I have been painting for over 10 years and I have found my niche is in colorful, funky portraits! I also love incorporating elements of nature. Painting is a therapeutic outlet that allows me to explore creative self expression. I also love dabbling in other mediums as well such as jewelry making! I’m so grateful to have a space like Chrysalis Artist Studios to share my work and connect with other artists!”
“My name is Kat Mikuluk and I am a Cleveland-based visual artist with a focus in oil painting and relief printmaking. I am currently working on my BFA at Cleveland State University and working out of Chrysalis Artist Studios, showing work in local and regional exhibitions. I will also be vending at local markets throughout the summer and holiday season, selling my prints and other handmade goods!”
“Hi! My name is Emma Barker, and I’m a queer metalsmith in the Cleveland area. I mainly work in silver, but I also like combining/reassembling antique jewelry. I like my jewelry to tell a story. And for me, the moodier or spookier the story, the better! I have a neuromuscular disability, and I hope to show others with limitations that there are adaptations that can be made (even when it comes to playing with fire).”

I’m Jennifer and I am a mostly self-taught painter, also lately a linocut printmaker with forays into children’s book illustration and authoring. In the fall semester I’m an adjunct professor. My work focuses primarily on my love of nature, Black culture, and what it means to exist in Black bodies, with emphasis on women and girls. I’m particularly interested in illuminating the ordinary because there is something both achingly beautiful and immensely political, dare I say revolutionary, about the ability to exist and move about the world safely and confidently in ordinary ways. I have a BA in psychology and an MA in art therapy counseling. In my free time I love to FaceTime with my son, go for runs, and eat delicious food with friends.
