Cara Romano works in a variety of media, including watercolor, ink, collage, oil painting, printmaking, and jewelry making. After growing up in Oberlin, Ohio, Cara went on to study at The University of Chicago. In 2007 she received her MFA in Sculpture and Expanded Practice and her MA in Art History from Ohio University. Although she works in many styles, she is best known for her abstract paintings that incorporate a time-based process of drawing and painting directly from sunlight and the shadow patterns it casts. She views her art as a spiritual investigation, a cosmic quest, but the destination is very much in the moment – whenever the sunlight appears and inspires her. Cara is also a resident artist at Negative Space Gallery, next door to Chrysalis.
