Chrysalis is a shared studio space with room for up to 10 artists. Each small unit starts as a blank white space, ready for the artist to make it their own.
“I’m Steph, and I create sterling silver & gemstone jewelry for my business, One 80 Reasons. Along the way, I got bored and also started carving linoleum blocks and rubber stamps, and started my second business, Prints Charming. I’m a queer woman, I’ve got a ton of cats, and I like playing in my gardens. Starting this studio community with my good friend Cara feels like a dream come true.”
Cara Romano is a Cleveland-based visual artist who works in all sorts of styles and media, including watercolor, ink, collage, oil, and jewelry-making but she is best known for her paintings that incorporate light and shadow patterns into colorful, abstract compositions. She recently opened her own mini gallery and studio inside of Negative Space Gallery, but is very happy to have additional studio space in Chrysalis. As one of the founders of Chrysalis Artist Studios, Cara is excited about building a community of artists working in close proximity to one another for support and inspiration.
“My name is Noor Al Rassam, and I am a graphic novelist. I am a self taught artist, and have worked with arts activist Nayana LaFond as a voluenteer in Boston, MA. I am working on a story called Moonflower, it is a female lead, fantasy action series that’s based on Arab and Middle Eastern culture and takes place in a dystopian future. In my free time, when I am not drawing, I like to watch anime and read manga or comic books.”
